My life right now: tangling with nazis and assorted fascists. I don't exactly seek them out but you know how it goes, being a woman online, speaking my opinions and they show up telling me to kill myself, or how they want to rape me, or whatever unoriginal nonsense they can come up with. I find that by taking a surreal approach to the conversation or just plain changing the subject really throws them. They don't know what to do with someone talking about cake, or elves dreaming and how we are part of their dreaming lives and we must not wake them.
Sometimes all you can do is drag them into a circus of absurdity to deflate them. I upset one man so much that he ended up blocking me. This was after he jumped into my mentions to tell me how terrible I was for being a liberal.
I never quite envisioned my late thirties being like this.
I suppose the upside is that I don't have time to have some kind of white lady existential eat pray fart crisis. I have to help save the human race, and my home country. (probably makes for a better story down the road.)

I like your suggestion of the surreal approach! I must try that!

"I never quite envisioned my late thirties being like this."

I know just what you mean, this is not at all what I imagined my early forties would be like.

I steer clear of expressing my views to strangers online though, as I'm far too sensitive for that.

Yeah.. I ignored it for a long time. But lately, I just can't. I mean, should rational, intelligent people really let the morons of the world get away unscathed?

And it's both sides. So, now there's a video going around picturing innocent kids at home watching the women's rally, and the vulgarity used, and saying "Look at what they're saying to our children! Shame!" Now, yeah, it's a re-edited version of what Clinton used against Trump. But I posted how emotional hijacking propoganda is wrong and worse than what was said. And then I get "Well, Clinton used the same video"

And it's not about that. It's about the leap to emotional hyperbole to prove a point. Both sides caught in a game of one-upmanship, unable to actually discuss facts like adults.

I'm ranting. I know. But the rational must take back the conversation.

I don't see a lot of liberal people telling conservatives that they want to rape them. (at least online. And I know A LOT of radical liberal people.)

I am tired of people thinking it is all right to threaten violence. (especially against women.)

Your online calmness inspires me. Like, you're mad about the things you should be mad about, and you don't let the crazies rile you unnecessarily. It's admirable.
