I won the battle against the Indian stomach problem. Huzzah. Back to our regular eating program.
Today I have been making ice cream. I do a Christmas cake ice cream every year when I slice the top off of the Christmas cakes to make them perfectly level. It is a good use of cake. For the custardy base I steep a vanilla bean pod, some cardamom and a bit of ginger in cream and milk. I also add in a healthy dose of bourbon because well it is good. It isn't too boozy but just enough to be more appealing to adults. Which is fine.
When I wasn't bemoaning the state of my stomach I was crafting it up. I made this one. I am at work on another there is assorted reds and greens. I am not sure where I will hang that one just yet. I shall make a great multitude of things out of paper if given a pair of scissors and some glue. My approach to decorating ends up taking many days. I put up some things and look around. Then I create some more things and put those up and look around. I suppose it will finally end when we put up the tree in a week or so. (I tend to wait closer to Christmas to put up the tree because I am like that)
At some point I need to go and pick up a bunch of marzipan for all these Christmas cakes I have made. This means a trek to Ballard. (also known as the old country) I also need to buy a great deal of butter soon. For there is a cookie exchange in my near future. Oh the cookies I will eat. And make. But mostly eat.
How is everyone else doing these days?
