I know I am gaining a bit of maturity when I refrain by getting a bit snarky and say, "It must be nice to know a lot."
There is a message board I like to read and there is always a specific personality who has a knack for saying things that come across as condescending. Though I could be reading into some imaginary subtext. Oh who am I kidding. Other people have brought it up too.
So yes. My badge of adulthood is not being overtly vicious and letting it be.
I think I deserve some custard because of that.

The other night Mr. Jenner and I were in bed having a casual State of the Family chat -mostly talking about the future, should we ever move, job possibilities and so on. We both agreed that we could never live in the South. It is too hot for us and there are too many crazy people. I think the same goes for Australia. We know lovely people in each location but it isn't for us. We aren't keen on warm weather and the fact of the matter is we are cheerful recluses. We kept throwing out ideas of places we would and wouldn't want to live. I suggested Denmark. The people are happy there because of their low expectations to be happy. (It's true) He said that learning the language might be difficult. I said, "Oh they all speak English there and really, Danish sounds like English spoken by someone who is drunk and has a Speech impediment." I kid. I kid. The conversation then wandered off into a tangent where I mentioned Garrison Keillor having lived there for awhile and Mr. Keillor's history as a man-whore. Both facts surprised Mr. Jenner considerably.
We suspect that in the end we will live far away from everyone and be known as that weird old couple that doesn't speak to anyone. We will have some sheep and a menagerie of miniature animals. It will be great.

If you're ever forced to move into the South, I think you might like Charleston. It's unbelievably warm and humid, but as a result all the women wear lovely sundresses and hats and carry fans, so it's rather charming.

Also, I have never eaten so well in my life, outside of Italy. This is a town that loves food and does it well (and this is coming from someone who doesn't care much for traditional Southern cooking, despite having grown up amongst it).

As for your first paragraph, you deserve persimmon gelato for your self-restraint.

Secondly: Australia is very cold at the moment! Well, very cold to Aussies. It's about 15 degrees Celsius. That, to us, is officially fucking freezing.

We speak of moving often. We had made a big move down south, and i can't say I'd recommend it. Especially not to Charleston. Afterall, would you really want to run in to Eric and have lovely conversations over tea and a big fat burger? Other than that though, it is a lovely place. Though you'd melt in the heat.

I agree with the other comment about New England. I could cetainly see you as a New Englander. They're funny and snarky and many love to cook. We have family from there and I swear it seems like my one cousin could be your twin.

I enjoyed living in Italy as a teenager. I could see me living there again. But my husband doesnt want to leave NJ. ever.

Where in Ireland would you want to live? It has become kind of a hot place to live because of the EU. There are a lot of workers from Eastern Europe and for the first time in decades the natives aren't leaving in droves. (Part of that is due to the tech boom)
