shameless parental bragging

nasturtium
My son grew this. He was so tickled when I pointed this out to him. He planted the seeds, covered the seeds with dirt and then watered it on a regular basis. (He was a little too enthusiastic about watering so they may have had a bit too much water) We watched over several weeks as the seeds sprouted and grew leaves and now flowers have blossomed. Not even two and a veteran gardener!

run boy
Hey let's run around like a crazy person while Mummy attempts to take a picture.

Excuse me while I attempt to put the cap back on the lens.

such eyes
And now I shall woo you with my pretty eyes. (Note the slightly messy face. Apparently he was attempting to do a mask with leftover yogurt... or something.)

Oh, I feel a special connection with him now! The first things I remember growing and planting were flowers just like that, out of a seed packet that was labeled "First Garden for Children" or something similar. It was a very exciting summer. Very good work by the little dude.

I hope we can expand into a few other things next year. Maybe we will plant a whole load of nasturtiums. He really likes to help out. I think we will also do peas. (his favorite snack in the garden)
My Mom did the same thing with us. It is such a great rewarding task.
