tea time

Hot damn the horse I was keen on "Smarty Jones" won the derby.
undefeated in all of his races, something that hasn't been since since "Seattle Slew" in 1977.
I love that this horse kind of came from nowhere and is kind of small for a typical racehorse.
*LOVES HORSE-RACING*

We also went to the zoo today. Which was nice.

Smarty Jones is fast, too, especially considering what a muddy mess the track was. On dry ground, I bet he'd have come close to Secretariat's time.

Curious to see what he does in the Belmont, which is a quarter of a mile longer. He's not known as a distance horse, but he seemed to have plenty of oomph left at the finish yesterday.

He is probably one of those horses who loves the slop.
I saw some of his other racing footage and this seems like a horse who really really enjoys running.
The best horses are the ones who love to race.

He is truly a tough animal.

It's amazing he's even alive, after what happened last summer.

If he were a person, he'd be featured on Oprah.

He needs his own tv movie of the week. He could be played by Judith Light heh.

This is definitely a Seabiscuit kind of a horse.

I get that feeling, too.

We'll see.

*hopes and prays*
I am not a sports freak but I always get my hopes up for the triple crown.

It's just so unlikely. It's like rooting for the underdog.

[identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com 2004-05-03 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I know.
I like odds that are so against me that it is like rooting for the Mariners to win the World Series against the Yankees.

At least there, you get to root against pure evil.

Well yeah. It is a past-time that has rewards.
Yet every year broken hearts appear.
I am slowly learning what it feels like to be a Sox fan.

dear ms phooey,

you should go with me to the track some day and explain what is going on...

Well, it's like this, see: the horsies, they run around the track as fast as they little horsey legs can carry them. And the fastest one wins.

;-)

horse-racing is feckin' amazing.
