Watch as I get all Andy Rooney on someone

Every so often I run across something on the internet that just makes me go, "Damn folk are stupid!" I know I shouldn't be surprised but I can still think that. I saw someone's website that referred to Port Townsend (the town I grew up in) as a township.

Now here is a typical definition of township:
A subdivision of a county in most northeast and Midwest U.S. states, having the status of a unit of local government with varying governmental powers. or The district or territory of a town, In the United States, many of the States are divided into townships of five, six, seven, or perhaps ten miles square, and the inhabitants of such townships are invested with certain powers for regulating their own affairs, such as repairing roads and providing for the poor. The township is subordinate to the county

Yes the town is small but it is defined as a city (which is laughable but stick with me) and is the county seat of Jefferson County so obviously it isn't exactly subordinate to the county.

God bless stupidity. The website was for someone's wedding and they were offering suggestion to the guests on how to entertain themselves. One suggestion was to visit the "quaint townships of Poulsbo and Port Townsend". Again amusing because the "townships" are in two different counties separated by water/bridge and about 40 minutes worth of distance.
Yeah.

Okay so the loose guest list we have come up with is pushing 200. This is proving to be a bit of a bitch when asking around for reception sites in Port Townsend.
If Luxembourg could host a garden party for its population, then why can't the ass-faces in Port Townsend find space for every person Mr. Jenner and I are acquainted with?
I had a moment of insanity where I thought about inviting every person on LJ. But then I regained my brain

my mother had a fabulous solution. we picked a number and then gave each parent group a number and let them compile their own list. it cut down on the infighting. we did get slightly crazy with the list, but since it was february in michigan we could be generous and know that most people weren't crazy enough to want to brave the cold.

Nothing like getting married in the middle of winter to keep certain people away. heh
We are getting married in the Fall so some will come and others will say, "You want me to travel all the way to freaking Port Townsend just to see you in a pretty dress?"
Yeah so that is that.

such a trip is a small price to pay to see you married. i mean, how often does that happen? it's a special opportunity you're offering them...

It only happens twice a year...oh wait that is a white sale. I always get the two mixed up.
