musical confessions

So for several months I have been listening to this one musician. He is more well-known in England/Europe and I first heard him on BBC radio and one of his songs kept playing a lot and I didn't really pay attention to it initially. But dammit the man won me over. I am sure it isn't hip to like him and all that but dammit. I will admit it now.
I like Mika.
I have liked him for a long time.
I told a friend I want to buy a grand piano, turn my living room into a cocktail lounge and have him play all the time.
But then I am a dork like that. You will find yourself wanting to prance around in your underwear to his songs. Though that might just be me.
Watch his Grace Kelly Video if you want an introduction. This song has been played on the radio in England. A lot.
Pretty much if you dig Freddie Mercury you might like him.
Not to mention he is nice to look at. I keep thinking that Dan Savage would weep with joy over looking at him.
Okay I need to return to dancing in my pants.

Funny you should mention...

I hadn't heard of him until last night, when I was flipping through the channels and stopped on E! TV (Yeah, what of it?), and they were doing a bit on him and another musician. Still don't know much about him, but I'm always up for some new stuff.

I don't judge the watching of E!
He is very... continental and I like listening to his music. Alex is fond of the song Lollipop.

I heard this on MTV a while back, one of those little previews they do between shows. Catchy stuff.

Insanely catchy and definitely interesting sensibility. Crack music really.

Interesting. Another friend of mine just posted about him. He is going to be quite the sensation in the states.
The only song I know is quite infectious already. hmm I think I might listen to it right about now.

I admit a part of me doesn't want him to become big here so I can enjoy him in peace.
Selfish I know.

I do agree with you. I am always upset when a not well-known band I like goes into the spotlight. It kinda takes their appeal away.

[identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
The pants are definitely...interesting and appealing.

*cough* i'd tap it.

You know what is good.

Okay so the universe is against me obtaining this album. iTunes is broken and the local Borders doesn't even have it.

*sulk*

[identity profile] cigale.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
so it is not just me... itunes is a piece of crap, unless it lets me buy the album.

A friend of mine got it at best buy for the same price as itunes with free shipping or instore pick up.

[identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously you must kill to obtain it. Are you willing to kill?

it's ok sweet little gay boy- I LIKE YOU!!!

Jeez, add a little synth-pop to this kid and I'd be in heaven :)

[identity profile] cigale.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
they said on a french TV show that he wrote one of his song when he was with his girlfriend...

Somehow his low, low pants made me think the same way you did. We are bad for having such stereotypes, bad bad us

[identity profile] instantkarmma.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
well girlfriend can also mean "my friend, a girl" plus when he name checks Grace Kelly AND Freddie Mercury it is tough not to make those connections. Plus Miss Gennie's Dan Savage reference, the deck was stacked!

[identity profile] cigale.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I do see your point. But really they meant girlfriend as in the one you are sleeping with. french is a bit less ambiguous.
Who would have thought right?

Hey I still love his low cut pants ;)

Hee. He is...sexually vague. Meaning everyone can have a piece.

I saw his video every single time I flipped to MTV Italia when I was on vacation, and I fell in love with that song. I can't wait until freaking iTunes will let me download the whole album.

[identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
When I was in Italy, MTV Italia was all about Robbie Williams. So for effed up reasons when I heard Robbie Williams I think of my honeymoon.

Oh funny... He was on GMA the other day. he performed Grace Kelly. In the interview beforehand, he admitted that he had faked his way through music school. haha... But he is adorable and fun to watch.

[identity profile] gfrancie.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
His music is insanely addictive. You will want to dance all night.

[identity profile] bbcaddict.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 05:34 am (UTC)(link)

He is...vague. I like vague.
