shameless parental bragging

nasturtium
My son grew this. He was so tickled when I pointed this out to him. He planted the seeds, covered the seeds with dirt and then watered it on a regular basis. (He was a little too enthusiastic about watering so they may have had a bit too much water) We watched over several weeks as the seeds sprouted and grew leaves and now flowers have blossomed. Not even two and a veteran gardener!

run boy
Hey let's run around like a crazy person while Mummy attempts to take a picture.

jumper
Excuse me while I attempt to put the cap back on the lens.

such eyes
And now I shall woo you with my pretty eyes. (Note the slightly messy face. Apparently he was attempting to do a mask with leftover yogurt... or something.)

wow. you must be a great teacher!

Nah. This is one of those simple things you can do with little kids. I like to garden so I thought I would find him a project to do so that he could have fun as well.

Red with variegated foliage -- my favorite kind of nasturtium. :)

It is such a great shade of red. So vivid.

that flower will make a delicious salad topping! mmm, so spicy.

form and function, what more could you want?

Oh, I feel a special connection with him now! The first things I remember growing and planting were flowers just like that, out of a seed packet that was labeled "First Garden for Children" or something similar. It was a very exciting summer. Very good work by the little dude.

I hope we can expand into a few other things next year. Maybe we will plant a whole load of nasturtiums. He really likes to help out. I think we will also do peas. (his favorite snack in the garden)
My Mom did the same thing with us. It is such a great rewarding task.

He really does have beautiful big brown eyes! No wonder he's such a hit with the ladies.

This is how he gets free things and his own way.

The simplest things you show kids are the best,no?

They are. Plus he seems to be fascinated by the things that Mr. Jenner and I are interested in.

lovely work!

and also - did his gramma knit that coat for him?

no I'm not knitting obsessed or anything.

His Nana knit that. A good portion of things his Grandma knit for him are probably on display at the Puyallup fair. Girl has to represent and all.

No. You don't have a problem. Not you. Never.

Your son has quite the pesto-colored thumb there.
