wake up

What do you do on a Monday morning when your kid has you up before the sun is up and you feel a bit like a truck has run over you and you have some pears and apples that need to be used up?
Why you bake a free-form apple and pear tart of course.
It is the sort of thing that they would refer to as "rustic" in restaurants. Maybe drizzle caramel on top? or add some cardamom ice cream on the side if we are going for the whole look. I think it will taste good. It will certainly be pretty in that "oh this ol' thing I just threw it together" kind of way.
The Tuscan bean soup I made last night turned out well. There is even enough for lunch today... I think.
I suspect I will need several cups of tea today to keep me upright. I am about as conscious as Judy Garland on her fuzzy days. I obviously won't be performing "Live From Carnegie Hall" from my living room today.
As you know I am apt to do.

Another bright beautiful day with leaves continuing to change color. Maybe I will go and stand outside to make myself wake up. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Would a walk help? Is there the possiblity of Senor Onion taking a nap and maybe you could catch a little sleep then?

I went out and did some gardening. Got some sun.

I always cry when you do 'Over The Rainbow'.

My favorite is "Zing Went the Strings of My Heart."

I will try and do it in the encore during tea.

Is a free form tart like free verse poetry? Anyhow it sounds very tasty. Your son is going to be so spoiled by your cooking that college is going to be a total shock to the system.

I will try and post a picture but with a free-form 'rustic' tart, you roll out some pastry, put the filling on top and then bring the pastry up around the filling. You don't put the pastry in a pie-shell. Usually it is baked on a baking sheet. Add a little sugar for texture and voila.
Hopefully he will be able to cook so he will live on something other than ramen.
