healthy as horses.

The cough/cold fairies have come to visit us. They rarely call but now it is our turn. Senor Onion is home sick with it (as is a quarter of the kids in his class) and even I am sick with this irritating cold. I am trying to win the battle by staying good and hydrated. COME ON IMMUNE SYSTEM DO YOUR THING. Oof. What a dull way to end January. Could be worse.

A cousin of mine broke her ankle in THREE PLACES at roller derby practice. She posted a picture of what it looked like before the doctors went to town. It was bent in ways an ankle should not be bent. The picture kind of made me want to vomit. But of course I looked at it again because I think I secretly love looking at this stuff. It is a family trait. Female members of my family love looking at gross medical-related stuff, horrifying ourselves and then looking again. (confidential to my sister, do NOT mention the whole youtube thing. We have to look like semi-civilized people) So she will be busy healing for the next four to six months. No roller derby for her -which sucks because she loves it to pieces.

I am going to sip my tea and remain thankful that I don't have a weirdly bent ankle. Seriously it was soooooooo gross. *goes to look again*

She took a PICTURE!

I think she had someone else take the picture. You know... for fun.

Gotta celebrate those special moments in life.

Just reading this is giving me horrible flashbacks. When I did the three-places-break, I remember Phil saying to me "Don't look at your ankle!". But I did. And it was like a Barbie leg gone akimbo. No foot should ever turn that way.

Yeah When I first saw the picture, I yelled out loud. So you know what she is going through. The next four to six months will be spent on healing. I know she is really down about not being able to skate.

I really enjoyed my operating theatre stint when I was nursing. I considered specialising there, but you have a job to do, the surgeons get cross if you spend more time looking at what they're doing than sorting out swabs and instruments.

See I would be a horrible nurse. I would spend half of the time going, "OMG look at that LOOK AT THAT"
