um

I had strange dreams last night. There was an epic one involving a house that was built like a ship so it could withstand floods. It was built by a man who was naval captain (I think?) and he wanted to be prepared for any eventuality. Did I mention this was all in the 19th century? He was good to his daughters and horrible to his wife and he was considered a bit of a social climber and "new money" but he didn't seem to care. I am not sure how I came to be stuck on this "house boat" (though it looked more like Castle Howard than a house and twice as gaudy) and it was raining and raining and flooding and we kept picking up people along the way who were caught in trees. I think I was a cook. I kept finding oysters, prawns and fish in the oddest places and Half of the time when I would open an oyster, pearls would come tumbling out. I also had seaweed stuck in my hair half of the time. I was cooking everything up and serving it to various people. Some were men who had enormous mutton chops. As I woke up I think we were heading toward the remains of the Canary Islands.

This morning I went to open up a new jar of jam and we are near the end of the two batches I made last year. Not bad I say... I hope I can make some more this year. Maybe try something different.

Dude last night was theee night for weird dreams. I was on an airplane making stops like a train would. Huge huge plane destined for Holland. And then there was my mother in her church and my sister and I kept sneaking out for cigarettes and we'd pick runner beans on tepees set up outside. Holy smokes.

You as well - it must be pollen or something. Last night I was in the film production of Kiss Me Kate and waiting in the wings to go on stage to explain something to Howard Keel. However, when I looked at the script to check my lines, I couldn't find my scene anywhere.

Nothing like a good old fashioned actor's nightmare.

Full moon?
Tacos before bed?
Were you flying the Spruce Goose?

You always had such vivid dreams. My favorite one you told me about. You were on a train with all these mardi gras like characters. You thought this one guy was after you, but it turned out he was there to save you from this one guy you met you thought was nice. So strange...

Most of the vivid dreams happen in the morning so I am more likely to remember them.

email is down, so i just wanted to tell you--while the british cookbook has a marmalade recipe, it's the old-fashioned kind where you do sugar cup-for-cup(for every cup fruit, one cup sugar. a little sweet). but yes, you could certainly do blood-orange marmalade(it sounds like something out of agatha christie). i would check the ball's low sugar pectin recipe sheet, i think there is a basic marmalade on there. call me if you want further elucidation.
dont do lime marmalade. i tried it once. not good.
