feeding and exhaustion

For dinner on Saturday my sister and I made a cous-cous salad, luleh kebabs and roti. We served that with a yogurt sauce I made and some hummus that was in the fridge. I fed some of the roti to Alex who sucked on the bread with interest and also stuffed it down his shirt. (saving some for later?)
Saturday evening Mr. Jenner and I went out to 611 Supreme to have crepes. Mr. Jenner had Le Citron -a crepe with lemon juice, sugar and lemon-laced chantilly cream. I had Le Chocolat. Obviously it had chocolate. Lots of it. There was dark chocolate mousse with chantilly and dark chocolate shavings. I was pleased with my choice. If I had no self-control I would have ordered two or three and knocked them back without blinking twice. But I didn't. I liked how the mousse was bittersweet and delightfully creamy. I admit the crepe itself wasn't that terrific. (Just a touch under-done) I am willing to overlook that since it was truly a vehicle to get the chocolate to my mouth. The service was also a bit lazy but I think that had more to do with the server having to cover all of the tables. She seemed nice enough but distracted.
It was nice to go out and have a little something to eat and go on a walk. I didn't have to push a stroller or hold a baby. What a novelty.
Sunday I went out with my sister to the garden nursery and looked at herbs. I bought a basil plant that I will probably end up killing at some point. Yet I keep trying. Bless me. I also picked up a loaf of bread at the Essential. We came back and I served lunch and we spent the rest of the day being lazy.
I did take the strawberries I picked from the garden and made a small strawberry cake that is absolutely delicious. (will have to take a picture of the cake if I remember)
We dropped my sister off at the ferry and then we came home and I made omelettes and sausages for dinner. We watched Still Crazy which is a very funny and slightly sad movie. Bill Nighy as usual stole the show with his performance. (I think my Mother would like this movie)
I finally finished the book Conspiracy of Paper. It takes me longer to finish books now as there is a small person who wants my attention or tries to eat the book when I am reading. It took me well over half an hour to finish the last few pages of the book last night as he kept wanting to taste it. Next up: a Bill Bryson book.
This morning I rolled out pastry and baked the shell for the quiche I am making for dinner tonight. One less thing to do. Of course I must now face the pile of laundry I spent the weekend ignoring.
