meeting the neighbors

gfrancieAs some people know, in my neighborhood there is a place that has a pony and a goat in their backyard. This is pretty significant in the city. My Mother figured that the pony was old enough to be grandfathered in to get around those particular zoning/live stock laws. It is fun to see them in their big back yard doing their pony and goat thing.
Today Senor Onion and I were going on our usual walk when we saw the pony and the goat out on a city strip (between the sidewalk and the road) grazing while their owner was grooming them.. I had never talked to her before but it was a real pleasure talking to her about her animals. It turns out the pony is actually a miniature horse! Argentine. The pony is about 27 years old and will be having a big birthday in July. The goat isn't as friendly but still fun to watch. Senor Onion loved meeting the horse up close as well and the owner thought Senor Onion was an absolutely darling kid. I suppose it helped that he asked to pet the horse and he was so quiet and gentle. It definitely made our daily walk extra fun. In between that and seeing all the daffodils in bloom.
I think it perked up Senor Onion a bit. He seems to have a bit of a stuffed up nose and it has made him a bit miserable. He isn't napping well (can't breathe) and he falls apart easily. But he is all right for the most part.
Baby Biscuit is kicking up a storm these days. I feel like a popcorn machine.
