Miss Biscuit woke up in the night having tossed her cookies on a grand scale all over her bed. I was able to wash things and I put her in bed next to me. It was quite a sight. The real tragedy in all of this is that her favorite stuffed animal (her horsie Rora) was a victim in this mess. Rora is well loved and it shows. You can't just toss Rora into the wash. I had to cut open a seam, remove these mesh bags filled with pellets (along with some stuffing) because if these pellets become wet, all chaos is to reign down upon us. Or something. One day I would love to meet the people who design stuffed animals and the like on a mass scale and say, "you do know children play with these things and have a habit of loving them to a disgusting state right?" So once I performed surgery on Rora, I had to clean her by hand. I should point out that once upon a time Rora was a white horsie with pink feet. Over time she has become a dingy grey-ish color. She won't ever be a pristine sort of white horsie but she looked a lot better. I tossed ol' Rora for a ride in the dryer. Then I had to restuff her and sew her up again. The kids watched with great interest as I did that. It didn't cause Miss Biscuit concern. She seemed pretty interested. I told her I was patching up her horsie. She seemed satisfied with that answer.

She seemed to waver back and forth between being quite well and then being a bit sad and droopy. I had to spend much of the day holding her. I finished a book, watched some Pride and Prejudice and read her a lot of stories. She ended up having an early night as she was so worn out. Senor Onion who is still in the midst of his minor cold -he mostly coughs like someone who smokes a couple packs a day. It is just one never-ending amusement park of excitement in these parts. Oh January you make us so humble.

When I wasn't playing sick-ward with the kids, I roasted some pork. I also went to coffee/breakfast with a friend who just returned from Asia. (she was traveling/seeing family) She had hilarious stories about family weddings, how goomba-chic transcends race and culture, (seriously. It does. Proof that no one can ever get too uppity about things.) the idea of traveling to slightly war-torn places because there aren't too many Americans there, and people with questionable taste. She also brought me nougat and pineapple cake from Taiwan. She is too kind. I love the stuff so much. Senor Onion has a deep love of the pineapple cake as well.

Mr. Jenner has been a patient presence. He returns and all is well.

washers and dryers are, as you know, amusement park rides for stuffed animals and dolls. that is what they were designed for.
