gfrancieThursday afternoon/evening I-5 south had traffic backed up so far that it would have been quicker to walk from Northgate to downtown.
The bus quickly went a little crazy. Atleast the people did. So I wrote this while sitting there, waiting.
The busdriver had a moment of clarity and exited the freeway, but then in a moment of confusion (I think) he got back on the freeway near Roosevelt. Chaos erupts. It seems many of the passengers disagree with his choice. They are being vocal about it. "what was that busdriver thinkin' If I was incharge I would get off the freeway"
"he wasn't thinking if you ask me"
"maybe we should take over the bus."
I suspect if these people had been members of the Donner Party the second bread ran out, they would have said, "okay that is it, we need to eat Cousin Zebidiah."
Patience people patience.

Two zulu women behind me, with afrikana accents are bitching up one side and down the other, telling the busdriver what a fool he is. We have just reached the Ship Canal bridge. It seems some car had an accident. I suspect half of what causes the back ups are damn rubber-neckers.
We keep inching along slowly...slowly. The zulu women are becoming louder and louder and I feel like shouting, "he is doing the best he can motherfuckers."
But I keep reading my book.

(RIB TICKLIN') Todd Barry is a funny motherfucker. You may not know about him because he doesn't have a sitcom, and he hasn't been in a bunch of movies (he has a bit part in Pootie Tang, which should tell you something). But he does have a very funny self-released LP (Medium Energy) with the best Fugazi joke you'll ever hear, an indie-rock pedigree (he's opened for Yo La Tengo, Luna, and others), and a bottomed-out deadpan delivery that puts the world of extreme comics to shame. (Fri-Sat Oct 4-5, Giggles Comedy Club, 53rd and Roosevelt, 8 pm and 10:30 pm. Call 526-5653 for reservations.)(also it is 21 and over club)
