I have been a bad person ignoring my beloved journal for quite awhile so now is the time to update.
So My show opened and it received a good review (I use the term loosely) the broad who did the review couldn't review her way out of a wet paper bag. She just wet her panties over the ingenue and the guy who played Hysterium. (she thinks he is funny....lord she must be blind and stupid) I am sorry but the man isn't that funny. There are some people who can be funny and there are some people who just are funny, but this grumpy old man isn't. Argghh I need to stop thinking about it I am going to give myself an ulcer. Anyways.....
OOOOOOhhhhh guess what after the show saturday night I went and got to see Pearl Django LIVE. Oh happy day I adore them so much. I have heard them on the radio so much and finally I got to see them. I now can go into a coma for awhile.
okay maybe not cause I have a show to do.
Pearl Django is sorta like a tribute band to Django Rheinhardt and Stephene Grapelli's band in paris in the thirties. The Hot Club of France. They played "le jazz hot" and it is mostly guitars, violins and....it is sublime. True beauty. Plus I had a great soup we strong-armed the chef into making for us, even though the kitchen of the restaurant was closed. Nothing like being a difficult actor. *smirks*
Anyways....what else.
this weekend I made a rather interesting grilled sandwich.
I painted olive oil on two pieces of french bread and then put sliced garlic down and then fresh green and purple basil, some smoked ham, provolone and then I grilled that on each side. It was truly clever. I admit a bit decadent, but I was impressed with the purple basil. I have never used that stuff before. I had gone to a farmers market saturday morning and bought a head of garlic, and a ton of basil, plus some creamed honey from our neighbors up the street (they also have peacocks) and it was all organic. I do believe Julia Child's would be proud.
I also refined my brownie recipe some more. I used to sometimes put in a home-made cherry pie filling just for fun, but this time I put in two cups of fresh raspberries. It was truly a complex and seductive taste. It balanced well with the chocolate. I shall have to play with this some more. Also I was a little bored so I made some Challah. I am sorta proud of myself, Friday night I made two loaves of bread, a plate of brownies and clam chowder all from scratch in the space of two hours. Again I say, Back off Martha Stewart I will make you weep.
Oh what an ego I have today.
Right now my new inspiration is mail art and I am inlove with the collage of it all. I don't know where I will go with it...but I know something good might come out of this. If I don't burn myself too much when playing with the embossing powder.
Blast, tonight I have a pick up rehearsal...I should find a way out of it. I want to go and see this Cuban band that is playing tonight. Apparently they have won a grammy.....silly enough reason to see them, but they are supposed to be incredible. Oh what fun....
