At the moment I am in the middle of making lemon meringue pie. I will make the meringue later tonight since Mr. Jenner seems to favor warm lemon meringue pie. Oh him and his peculiar Anglo-ways.
I am also in the midst of making something that I am not entirely sure how it will turn out.
I took some fresh basil and lined a bowl with it, laid out some boneless chicken thighs that I lightly salted and then tossed on some thinly sliced garlic. Whenever I slice garlic in a very very thin fashion I am reminded of my brother Tom and the movie "Goodfellas". There is a scene where the guys are in prison and unlike everyone else they have their own place and they make rather posh food. One guy is slicing garlic with a razor so it is paper thin. Our favorite line when one asks another how he wants his steak and the guy replies "medium rare" and the first guy says, "ah, an aristocrat." Tom and I like to say that to each other whenever we cook together.
I then put in some thyme and a bit of olive oil and topped it off with some red wine. The chicken is relaxing in the wine.
I am thinking of doing something like wrapping the chicken up with prosciutto inside and then wrapping everything up in the large basil leaves and then cooking it all together. I am not quite sure yet what I will do. Something will come to me.
I finished doing all of the laundry, I cleaned the bathtub, took out the garbage and did my nails.
I think Miss Gennie can call it a day.
In a bit a good friend is coming over. Annie and I have known eachother since we were four years old and in ballet together. She was a botany major who kills all house plants that come into her care. What an amazing skill. She spent time in China in the Peace Corps but was pulled out because of the SARS outbreak. She is now playing around with DNA at the University of Washington. Big fun.
I think we will have tea and make fun of Ikea.
