Last night my sister went and watched one of the great ballet dancers of the twentieth century.
Andrew and I saw "Starsky and Hutch".

No judgements will be made.

My sister and I were organized today. We went and saw "Lawrence of Arabia" at the Cinerama. It was kick-ass and a half.
We sat in the second row (exact middle) in the balcony. Quite possibly the best seats in the house if you know what is what.
It was complete with pre-show music, a ten minute intermission, and a damn fine audience. Though I did have to take to task a few older people who came and sat up in the balcony during the second act. They felt compelled to talk and I politely explained that they needed to be quiet. I didn't even have to resort to my time-honored tradition of threatening to dismember said individuals and then beat them with their own severed limbs.
I like to think this is evolution in action.

The movie was absofuckinglutely terrific. It had the amazing Peter O'Toole and his blue eyes. Brilliant cinematography leaving one truly breathless, and an epic story.
The slighty tragic aspect of this film is realizing how much The United States is step by step following Britains exact mistakes.
The sun set on their empire and I somehow suspect that a particular administration doesn't want to think about that sort of thing happening to them. Yet they are doing the same thing to many arab nations.
A bit dangerous to play this sort of game with a number of tribes who harbor a complex set of emotions toward each other and outside forces.
A nasty nasty game.
The film also set the tone that war is a disgusting and uncivilized thing. It isn't pretty in the least.

God Bless David Lean.

We are truly exhausted. That was nearly four hours of cinema fun.
I think it is time to eat more croissants and some chocolate gelato. Maybe we will have dinner as well.

...

Amusing moment when watching "Starsky and Hutch" last night, when an actress (and I use the term in its loosest sense) removed her top and the audience was given a shot of her breasts there was a hilariously collective and audible oogle from the male portion of the audience. It was quite funny. All of a sudden you hear this , "oooh". There was a similar one when you saw the cheerleaders practice and the camera caught some rather impressive daisy-duked backsides showing their spirit.
The film was amusing. I give it that and I do like Owen Wilson very much because he projects such a devil-may-care attitude. Vince Vaughn was also quite amusing. The film-makers were the same ones who gave us "Old School" and "Road Trip" so one is given a general idea of the humour. Some good, some juvenile, and some guaranteed T&A. God Bless them too, but in a pity-inspired sort of way.
