I planted bulbs, mulched a bed and began brewing plans for the revision of my Mother's garden.
I am honing my domestic diva skills.

I also ate a macaroon. Which was nice.

The day did end a little poopy when I missed a ferry, a bus and then I was rained on. Yet I remained fairly cheerful. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and I am wearing my soft pink robe.

I may make a pie tomorrow.
Martha Stewart watch out.

Yesterday My Mother gave me one of the cutest damn things in the world. It is this little tiny french purse that is shaped a bit like a suitcase. It is red! She knows I always need another purse in my collection. I showed it to Andrew and he suggested that sometime when I have a flight I ought to act like I want to check it in. *snort* He always has the best ideas.

So it seems my Mother has broken her nose and I had imagined that she would have black eyes and look like someone who hangs out in Indian Bike bars (she only did once and it was her first date with my Father....that is another story) but she lucked out a bit. Instead she has some scabs on her nose so from a distance it looks a bit like she smeared some chocolate on her face. Which is also a fun look.
She did this while trying to hive some bees (she has a few swarms) and she tripped and fell face first.
I keep imagining what that would be like and as my Grandpa used to say, "oooh that just makes my crotch hurt thinking about it."
One swarm didn't take to being hived and My Mother showed me where they had taken to hanging out. I have never seen a live swarm outside of its box before. There was this huge oval shape made of bees up in a tree. They apparently hold onto each others legs and wait while scout bees go around and see if there is a place to go and live. It was truly an impressive sight. I wish I had taken a picture of it.
I think today My Mother is going to attempt to hive the swarm again and hopefully this time she won't break anything else.

Also at the Gibson family manor like I said yesterday I planted many bulbs. My Mother tried out a method she had read in a gardening book. She had covered a bed in mulch for a month or so and then pulled it back and there were hardly any weeds and some of the most gorgeous soil ever with plenty of worms.
I mulched another bed and I think when I visit this weekend for Mother's Day I will begin mulching the huge rose garden to-be and plant some potatoes.
The garden I did plant will have Dahlias (My favorite flower in the world) gladioli, a few lilies and maybe in various spaces we can plant some sweetpeas. I am partial to this one heirloom variety from the 18th century. It has one of the most pleasant scents.
Maybe we can plant some pumpkins as well.
The rose garden will take a bit of time. It will require heavy mulching and I some day-lilies need to be divided up. My Mother came up with the idea of planting roses and then things like lavender and rosemary in between. Partly as a filler and when you combine the scent of roses, rosemary and lavender it will be incredible. Then once the framework is carried out things like perennials can be placed.
At some point I will have to transplant a bunch of raspberry bushes which have been trying to migrate in the wrong direction.

This will be quite the battle to tackle.
Also at the moment My Mother is fighting a one-woman battle against Tent Caterpillers. (Those things give me the heebie-jeebies) Every once in a great while we get them for a season.
Most unpleasant.

....

Today I am going to make a pie and maybe create something else. I am not quite sure what but it should be interesting.
I think it is time for some tea.

Today I bring you fun with photoshop. The ever amusing [livejournal.com profile] kickadee has tickled my funnybone with this. Enjoy.

More basil is beginning to appear. Check my hot green thumb action folks.
note to self remember to pick up plant food this week

on the shallow hair front of news I did a hot oil treatment today (I warmed extra virgin olive oil over the stove and then applied) and used more sexy aveda products. My dreams are few but I aim to have the hair of Catherine Zeta Jones someday. Despite what many may think of her (and the opinions are extreme at times) you have to give her points in the hair department.

Today in the post my scarf was returned to me AND a very nice someone sent me a cd of major interest. I have something new to listen to during the commute. It will go well with my book. Thank you nice person. Expect something nice in the post.

The weather is acting a bit funny. Rain, sun, overcast, more rain, a touch of thunder, and it feels muggy. When it becomes like this my head hurts. *goes to lie down*

I forgot to mention this tiny little anecdote regarding my boyfriend being irresistible to women.
When we went to the Party down in Pasadena there was a very flirtatious four year old girl there who conned men into playing ball with her and then when people were tired and just sitting around she came over to my boyfriend, climbed up into his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He was quite surprised and I had to laugh. Meeting this little girl was a bit like meeting me at four years old.
I am frightened. Mostly for her parents who seem like such nice people and are going to be basket-cases in a few years.

I do like the fact that the girl takes the same approach I take with men I like.
This may bode well for her future.
Or maybe not.
