We have things to talk about, don't we.
Let's see under the heading of cool people who died there is Tony Randall. One of my favorite movies that he was in was Pillow Talk. He was just too funny. He wrote a hilarious book called, "Which Reminds Me" and it consists of a million anecdotes. Really it is an extended talk show anecdote but an absolute scream. I believe it is out of print but should anyone find it, purchase it. It is a good read.
Um...let's see what else. I am hooked on Colonial House. I have said many times that I abhor reality television but I have always been keen on the PBS historical reality shows. I think because there is no twist, no million dollars and no cheesy make-out scenes. The people have to work together to survive, they are given an unusual glimpse into the lives of other people and you see history in such an interesting light.
Watching this last night it became much more clear why the feminist movement took awhile to take hold. Things had to be invented to make it possible for a woman to stop for a moment and think, "well there has to be more then this."
It is interesting also to find that the Colonial period was fairly liberal and that had to do with the fact that since there wasn't much everyone was needed to make the survival happen. I have read accounts of women owning their land and successfully suing on their own for their share.
It makes one grateful for things like hot water and two-ply toilet paper.
...
Today after spending an hour trying on shoes and not being satisfied by anything except the really expensive shoes which I could not afford today I decided I needed some cheering up.
I went to Sur La Table. It is better then a perfume shop sometimes for lifting up one's spirits.
I perused pie weights, copper pans and other pretty things. I ended up acquiring a new spring form pan. *hugs it*
Yeah it takes only that.
Tonight I shall make strawberry shortcake.
I am not quite sure what dinner will be.
