Oh the tragedy.
Jun. 11th, 2004 05:53 pmI have some feelings about that particular individual's death. I suppose because I saw up close as a child the effects of many of his policies I feel a lot of things. Many of which aren't kind. I am sure he was a good family man and didn't drop puppies (unlike some people who shall remain nameless at this time) but I don't find any greatness.
If you want greatness in a leader I suggest one look to FDR. He truly did something amazing. He not only made a country feel good about itself, but he raised everyone out of the doldrums of the depression. He supported the arts. He helped the single parents, the aged, and the sick.
While of course he had his flaws I think he did more long term good then someone else.
I will say that any man who was defined as a "friendly witness" during the HUAC hearings is not an honorable man in my opinion.
That is all I should say about that.

Today I had the distinct pleasure of meeting one of Andrew's oldest friends. She is probably one of the nicest people I have met and equally one of the smartest. She is quite kind, very funny and a lot of fun.
I hope to get to know her better.
We picked her up from the airport and took her to lunch at a french restaurant. I am a bad person and encouraged her to eat chocolate and other bad food. It seems her Mother thinks she ought to lose weight.
I tell you there is nothing worse then a woman who projects her poor self-worth onto a daughter. It is one of the most dangerous things I have ever seen. It isn't Barbie dolls that create eating disorders and food issues. It is a Mother who gives a daughter crap about her weight.
That is one thing I want to thank my Mother for never ever doing. She grew up with a Mom like that and knew too well what kind of damage that does.
Well, she found something healthy and delicious to eat. Remember that folks. You can eat well and healthy. Just stay away from lite foods and anything highly processed.
Enough on that subject.
We then had her over for tea and biscuits which was very fun as well.
She is here with her boyfriend for the weekend to attend a wedding and to meet more of his family.
Oh the fun of that.

Now to think about dinner.
