After a very long plane ride, hassling at immigration and an equally long car ride (with a side trip to stonehenge) we arrived. Dr. Jenner (Mr. Jenner's Father) ever the good host immediately began pouring the drinks.
I later poured myself into bed.
Jetlag, many drinks and exhaustion in general do create the ideal ingredients for proper sleep.

Woooo. Bring on another drink.

Normally when I go through immigration at Heathrow it is a fairly pleasant experience. Sometimes the line is a bit long but that is alright. I am good at standing patiently and waiting my turn.
This time the line was extra extra long and then when I go up to the desk to show my passport and form the lady asks the usual questions. She asks if I am traveling with anyone and I point to Mr. Jenner (who is behind her standing near a gate waiting for me) and say that is my boyfriend Andrew Jenner he is a British Citizen. I am used to that question. They then tell me to have a good trip. This girl asked me a series of questions. How did I know him, how did we meet, what did he do for a living, how many times have I entered England recently. It was a little unnerving. Plus she asked several of these questions twice. I figure she was looking for any holes in my story. She then implied that he works in England and I explained that no he works in the U.S. I repeated things two or three times. "So he works for Microsoft?" "yes in the U.S." "So he lives here in the U.K.?" "no. He lives and works in the United States". I lucked out I suppose. This was just my first experience with being seriously questioned. Plus most of the questions were not about me. They were about Andrew. It was kind of funny when she asked how we met. I told her a mutual friend introduced us and she asked if that person was an American. I told her yes. I suppose it is a random check that goes on.
Next door to me a guy who is of Middle-Eastern descent was being asked why he wasn't in school and what was he doing in England for Three months.
She also really got into questions about what I was doing in England. I told her we were on holiday and we were visiting Andrew's parents and then going to a wedding in Nottingham. I then had to repeat again that we would be only in England a week.
I was ready to tell all of the horrible things I had ever done.
"One time when I was a kid I accidentally poked my brother in the eye with a stick. One time I forked the lawn of my high school...another time..."

Maybe I was looking a little too ethnic that day. heh. Plus it was Sept. 11th. I must say traveling jet-lagged was a damn sight more fun then watching politicians engage in a contest of who is more devout regarding the lost lives.j

So far I have had a pretty decent fish pie, some really good pub food, a nice large pint of anvil and walked along narrow country roads in the wind.
The Bucolic whimsy shall continue.
Tonight we are having steak and kidney pie and plan on beating the help. (Okay so I made up that last one)
