Last night Mr. Jenner and I went out with friends for drinks and dinner. Goodness I had a silly time drinking frou-frou cocktails and talking to "Nancy" (this is what this one man is called when he has had a few) and eating very very tiny hamburgers. He was telling me about his plans for his birthday. he is going to have a crab theme and it was going to be called, "hey I'm 39 let's not be crabby". I find it quite entertaining. He is a wonderful cook and I am going to have him make chocolate party favors for my wedding. I also need to get his recipe for stuffed mushrooms, because they are so delicious.
After that Mr. Jenner and I took the bus home. (This is one of the many nice things about living where we do now) It took just a few minutes and we could sit there a little pie-eyed on the bus.
Today I work and make soup for dinner. I am now working my way through "Middlemarch" I am doing my best to fill the various shameful gaps in my reading history. So far it is a cracking read as they say.
(who they is? I can't really say)
I get to do a book of the week in March and I have it already picked out. It will be so damn terrific. Smashing book that reminds me of screwball comedy films from the 30's and Kauffman and Hart plays.
Bandbox is one of the funnest novels I read last year and I think I can convince several members of the Great American public to read it. I have found it appeals to both men and women so it isn't some sort of awful chick-lit book and it is very smart and snappy. Plus the ending is hee-larious.
I think I should finish my tea, have some breakfast, read the paper and then go through my clothes.
