how to have fun when you are one

Yesterday we went to the birthday party of someone who turned one. The birthday girl was very excited and amused and the food was delicious. (the two important things for a birthday party, happy folk, good food) It was fun because there were small kids wandering around playing, people chatting and eating and it was very low-key and relaxed. Probably the most wild moment would be when the birthday girl was eating her cake and got it all over herself. Mr. Jenner enjoyed playing with small people and I liked the cake. It was sheet cake. Everyone's favorite. Of course I couldn't finish it (because I am old like that) but it was still gave me an acceptable sugar high. Weeee. I think my favorite little person (besides the birthday girl of course) at that party was a little boy who blew kisses and played with a balloon like it was a soccer ball but kept falling over when he would kick it. Very funny kid.
Afterward we came home, had a cup of tea and then I made macaroni and cheese (with bacon for Mr. Jenner) for dinner because I am lazy like that.

We leave in less than a week and I have much to organize. I need a freaking travel neck pillow. *puts that on her list of things to acquire* I need to decide which shoes I am actually bringing. (I must narrow it down to three pairs I think..maybe four) I need to make invitations are sorted out a little more, I need to go to work at some point. (har)

It will work out.

In my head

Mondays are often the most difficult days. I am thanking the Lord and Vishnu that I get to go on holiday soon. I am reaching the point where I might accidentally slip and say, "Motherfucker do you want to meet the business end of my shiv?" I don't want to reach that point but folks ain't helping. I told a boss today, "I need to go away for awhile because I need to stop feeling so stabby." He said that feeling stabby motivated him at work. He is a fun guy who likes to find pictures of gay men in glitter and say, "hey...how did they know what I do on the weekends."

Today the lead singer from the band keane (the singer is the guy in the middle) came in and bought stuff. It is nice to see singers/musicians buy interesting stuff. He didn't buy Bukowski so he is alright in my book. Some of the girls I work with were very excited when they spotted him. He seemed like a nice sort. I sorta wanted to run up to him and grab him by his lapels and say, "you cocksucker (I am swearing a lot in my head lately) I had to fucking listen to your pansy-ass CD for four long months. You owe me a drink or a prescription of valium for putting up with that." But I didn't. I have some restraint. Restraint and I may need to take a break from each other soon so I can scream now and then.

Did I mention the mean nasty Turkish women I helped today? MEAN!


It was so nice to come home and make some pasta and relax with the very kind Mr. Jenner. I will climb into bed, read a book and let the nastiness of the day disappear.

The rain has not stopped. It keeps pouring and pouring. Hopefully it should help our forlorn-looking lawn. I hope my tomato plant can withstand it.

One part of our invitations are done. Now I must glue with all my might and address envelopes. While Mr. Jenner has a neat hand he still has the scribbly penmanship of someone who didn't care a lot about penmanship in school; so I will tackle the task this week. I need to find a decent pen to write out all of these addresses. We are merely doing the international invites now, then a bit later the out of state invites and then finally the local folk. This way we can take our sweet time and make sure that people can find decent deals regarding their transportation if need be. While I may be an anti-bride I am a fairly clever one.

Now to go to bed. I have work tomorrow.
