Interesting. I love reading about this tiny kingdom. For a number of years television wasn't available and people were only allowed to wear traditional clothes but they are slowly taking up western culture; which has its pros and cons. Sometime back I recall reading how many people had become hooked on Indian soap operas. My favorite thing about the king is how he lives in the tiny cabin behind the palace away from all of his wives. I think it was [livejournal.com profile] ekdogg who said the king sounded like some of the crackers from the town he grew up in.

Last night I did a variation on the chocolate crinkles I like to make. I added a considerable amount of amaretto and it gave it kind of a glamorous flavor. The deep chocolate flavor and a fruity/nutty scent and undertone. Quite nice. So far I have made snickerdoodles, lemon almond tea cookies, crinkles and I think I should make one or two other things. Yes I have been on a bit of a baking bender as of late. Just ever so slightly.

I should start hustling more cakes or something. Anyone want a cake made for a fairly reasonable price?

It's supposed to snow tonight.
This is the part where I hop around the house like I am five.
That's right.
five.

Today I made the foolish foolish mistake of entering a Circuit City. Why? I know better. The customer service was so bad. I have seen anarchy more organized and cheerful. But now a small little boy who is in transitional housing will have a nice Christmas. (I picked out kid off of a list of kids are homeless because their mother's have escaped domestic violence and are in hiding) Yay Christmas.

But it wasn't all gloom and doom with shopping. Mr. Jenner and I had a nice little lunch at the British pantry, bought up some jaffa cakes and then did our best to be lazy gits.

Now begins the week of serious food prep. I have a goose to thaw, timpano to ready and desserts to assemble.

If people want to buy baked goods I can ship cookies to those who aren't local and cakes/pies to those who are. (I have yet to figure the details of shipping cake around the country -once I do I can sell people cake)
For serce.

For a zippy classic Christmas movie, I suggest Christmas in Connecticut starring the ever lovely Barbara Stanwyck as a Martha Stewart-ish writer who can't cook, isn't married or any of the things she claims in her column -her boss wants her to host Christmas at her quaint country home (which she doesn't have) with him, her imaginary family and a wounded soldier.
Hilarity ensues as she attempts to keep up the ruse.
This is a personal favorite of mine. Witty and romantic.
