Tonight for dinner I served a starter of cold asparagus on a bed of Italian parsley along with crab mixed with my home-made aioli. Then I served sauteed leeks and apples. (rosemary and sage was involved) Then croque monsieur. There was a lot of white wine for the guests.
For dessert I made madeleines and we ate those with the last of the lemon curd I made.
Then there was coffee and chocolates.
The In laws enjoyed dinner.

We went to the Museum of Flight today as well. They liked that a lot. We came home and I made lunch. For that I sauteed chicken, yellow peppers and tomatoes in wine and put that together with some pasta. I grated some parmesan on top and sprinkled some pine nuts. I also made bruschetta and a spinach salad with walnuts and crasins.

I admit I sometimes have to kick my in laws out of the kitchen and force them to relax. It is faintly tempting to put a sedative in their drinks. Mr. Jenner's father is almost pathological about the dishwasher, his idea of a good time is to do the dishes several times over and to fix things. The upside is he fixed the sliding screen door that is off the dining room, gave some advice regarding windows and a few other things about the house we weren't too sure about. I think there may be a field trip to a hardware store soon which will really make his day.

I will have further tales of the English and my theories about their country and history.
Next episode will be entitled, "But it is a pub in another country so it is different."
