Mar. 29th, 2007 10:46 amI offer you hilarity from my home town.
So recently a guy robbed the local Washington Mutual branch and he took off into the nearby park/lagoon. the park is a place where you could potentially hide out for a bit because there is enough brush and plant life to hide underneath. (heck homeless people will sleep out there during the Summer)
Some people who were walking in the park saw a guy run by with his hood pulled over to cover his face. They heard about the robbery and called the police to report what they had seen.
The guy only got away with about a thousand bucks -some of which was in Canadian. Not exactly the best robbery to go down.
A few nights later there is a guy at one of the local bars and he is bragging that he is the guy who robbed the bank. He is throwing money around, buying rounds of drinks for people and being a bit of a fool.
People are sitting around and watching this with interest. One of the people in the bar works with my Mom and she said that she had seen the picture put out by the police and she saw that the guy was wearing the same necklace as in the picture.
Obviously this guy is brilliant.
People call the police to report the guy. The next day the police show up at his residence and of course he is there. They find that he has spent half of the money and so there is about 500 bucks remaining -obviously a significant portion in Canadian.
Here is the best part: They found in a waste basket, five rough drafts of the stick up note. Was he aiming for originality? Did he want to do a stick-up note in iambic pentameter? In Swahili? Maybe he wanted something with a bit of irony.
So he is going to jail for awhile.
My Mom said that for the next week afterward the conversation all over town was, "If I was going to rob a bank this is how I would do it."
Someone else said, "if you are going to rob a bank why not rob the Hadlock bank like everyone else does."
