dispatch from the pantry
Jun. 9th, 2007 05:56 pmI have been caramelizing onions and baking cookies so the house smells rather good. It was approaching tea time and I noticed we were out of cookies so I quickly baked some. I was originally going to make snickerdoodles. I found as I was making the cookies that we were out of cinnamon so I decided to bastardize the recipe a bit and use a combinationn of ground cardamom, cloves and nutmeg and it worked out pretty well.
As for the onions they are for the pizza I am making for dinner. I am on a bender of accomplishing things. I put together Senor Onion's new high chair which he is a keen fan of. He likes being high up and he can watch me cook which pleases the Sun King.
Lots o' laundry has been done and I think I tidied up the house somehow. Though it doesn't look it now because babies often ruin efforts at housekeeping.
Last night we watched Keeping Mum. A very sweet and appropriately black British comedy. Anything that has Maggie Smith, Patrick Swayze and Rowan Atkinson has to be good. There were even full-frontal boob shots if that sort of thing matters to you in regards to your cinematic choices. (You know who you are)
Tomorrow I am supposed to go and be social. I have to work myself up to do that. The upside will be the fact that I will not have to hold a baby while eating. (a novelty) Still. Socializing.
Senor Onion has a bouncer which plays music and this toy tree that also plays music. Both items are made by the same company. the bouncer music sounds like the soundtrack from Twin Peaks and the toy tree music sounds like music from the television show Northern Exposure. I am wondering if all of the company's music is taken from early 90's television. When Senor Onion is in his bouncer with the music on I half expect Peggy Lipton to walk into the kitchen offering pie.
Am I suffering from a little too much exhaustion? Let's not contemplate that too much.
