I made pineapple upside down cake this morning. Oh sure we are up to our ears in biscuits and chocolate but I want my family (namely Mr. Jenner) to feel they have a wide variety of dessert/sweet options when the occasion calls for it. Also I was in the mood to bake and we had all the ingredients needed to bake such a cake.
Yay canned pineapple rings.
When I wasn't putting canned fruit to good use I was bathing a whingey baby, picking up his toys for the umpteenth time this morning and making lists. Somewhere in there when I wasn't cleaning up stray mushed banana (seriously how the hell does this stuff travel so far?) I was casually looking at information on the San Juan islands. As I told Mr. Jenner this morning, "I know I know we just came back from holiday and we don't want to go anywhere for awhile, it is still fun to see what is out there and begin research." One day it could become fodder for local holiday snark.
Senor Onion is recovering from jet lag. There was much improvement last night when it came to sleeping patterns. It did make me a bit frustrated when he woke up and nothing would make him happy. Thankfully I got him back to sleep. Though I was a bit grumpy about the whole experience. While we may have woken up at 4am (ye gods) I was actually able to get a nice full block of sleep and everyone woke up a little more cheerful. As much as you can when your internal clock is thrown off.
Right now Senor Onion is napping. He is posed in a fairly amusing fashion. One hand is up by his forehead as if he is saying, "Oh I have a case of the terribles. I do believe I may faint." Of course this is if he was a character from a Tennessee Williams play. Imagine a baby version of Tennessee Williams. Hee. It could be a whole website. Li'l tormented playwrights. Or 20th century baby writers. (You know you would love to see a baby version of Hemingway or Thurber, complete with eye-patch.)
