Here at the backyard wild life report, I have just seen the most crazy insane and awesome thing.
I should preface this by saying I have seen an eagle or two in the arboretum. (which is a few blocks from my house)
This morning I was looking out the window and I saw our hardened squirrel that lost its tail awhile back and it grew back to a stumpy length. It was racing along a neighbor's fence when all of a sudden this ENORMOUS eagle swooped down and grabbed a squirrel up and flew off.
Just like that.
We don't get eagles in our backyard as a rule.
But apparently this rule has changed.
I don't normally have Planet Earth on super-scary HD TV in my garden. All the other birds went quiet and hid in the brush and trees.
Once the eagle left the Stellar's Jays began making this weird noise like, "holy crap we've been invaded."
A shame about the hardened scarred squirrel. It had survived quite a bit.
