I am beginning to think that the DOT and the utilities people should just set up a little outpost in our neighborhood. They are here so often that I know a few by sight and wave when I pass by.
There is a road a block over that we drive on fairly often and about a week ago I was coming down the road and noticed the minor sink hole seemed much deeper than usual. The next day I was about to drive up that same road when I saw the road was closed and the sink hole was HUGE. They eventually filled it with large rocks and gravel, paved it over and waited for everything to settle. (we have a few sink holes in the neighborhood. It is a given in this part of the city) Then? They began tearing up the road on the other side of us in two spots. So that side of the neighborhood is closed up. They cut these giant holes in the ground. Dig around. The guys will stand and point. Have a conversation about the local sports team or something and then toss some gravel in and then wander off. Leaving a large holes in the ground for several days.
Not to mention a block over they condemned two more homes. The flooding in December from the day of GIANT rain absolutely ruined them. This was after the city claimed that they had solved the neighborhood flooding issues. LIARS.
This morning they are tearing down one house. I am not sure if they are going to tear down the other yet.
Nothing but machines, jack-hammering and noise galore.
I suspect we will end up with flooding again next winter as the city won't implement the plan that would actually solve this problem; despite having the budget to do so. Lazy bastards.

I think I need to eat a cookie.
