What have I been up to?
It seems like Summer decided to have a stroke and die. We have been experiencing a great deal of rain and general grey. It is a bit of a bother as I have all these green tomatoes and I want them to ripen pronto. There is also the concern of mildew setting in on some plants. The pleasant side is that it is cool enough to bake. Yesterday I baked a cinnamon bread from the James Beard Bread Book. I realized that I was slightly short of the required cinnamon needed (I need to go to the spice shop and load up for the Fall) so I just added cardamom and nutmeg and it turned out well. I also prepped some no-knead bread which I baked this morning. I have been slow-cooking some bolognese sauce all day so it should taste rather good by this evening.
I may just make some ice cream and something else if I feel organized. I have some laundry that needs to be folded and put away first. That and my child seems determined to remove all of his books off the shelves. Who knew all those years working in a library and in bookshops would prove to be practice for the inane tasks of Motherhood.
Maybe I will roast something this weekend.
