Honeycrisp apples are in the stores now. YAY!
Now normally I am more fond of heirloom varieties of apples and there are certain apples with which I always use for cooking, but honeycrisps are the ones I want to snack on all day long when they come into season. And it is all about the locally grown ones too. Senor Onion and I have worked our way through a couple today. (I bought a whole bunch) They are sweet and crisp. They are a rather new variety (developed in Minnesota in the early seventies) and they are awfully pretty too. Mmmmm crunch crunch crunch. Nom nom nom. So juicy.
I am making applesauce this weekend. There is this one recipe that involves cinnamon red hots. I realized that when I go to make this super sekrit jello salad recipe ([livejournal.com profile] thiscantbesoy knows what I am talking about) involving jello, applesauce and red hots; I will be half-way there with the applesauce. Is your mind blown Soy????)

In other exciting news I am making meatloaf for dinner. Yes it does get that wild around here.

I bought a bunch of daffodil bulbs. At some point on Saturday I am ripping out a bunch of the lawn to build this bed that will house tulips and daffodils. And some other things. Probably lavender and rosemary. My strawberry plants have somehow..... exploded. The population of plants has gotten a little out of control. I will see what I can do to transplant and move things around. I may play with things a bit and see if I can give a few plants away next Spring. And I have potimarron getting bigger. When I go to harvest them and I let them sit they will become sweeter. I think they would make a good soup.
