old. new. whatever.
Sep. 18th, 2008 08:51 amThe other day when I was digging up the dirt to make a garden bed I found a bottle. Yes. A bottle. Part of the bottom was slightly broken in one corner. It looked old but I wasn't sure what it was. It had some writing on the glass so I typed in the words into ye old google and found out one that looked exactly like it. (only not broken on the bottom)
Turns out it is this How neat is that. It is a shame it is broken in the corner. I may clean it up and keep it because it is still an interesting bottle.
I wonder what else I can dig up in the garden. I know that another house had stood here at one time before it was torn down to build this "delightful" house in the late 70s.
I would love to find a picture of the house that once stood here. I understand it was likely a craftsman-style bungalow.
I was doing brave grown-up things yesterday like taking the car to get a tune-up and have it checked over as we are leaving on a road trip in a few days. The mechanic was super awesome and very reasonably priced. (thank you Car Talk website) I had time to wander around the neighborhood it was in. There wasn't a Starbucks in sight. In Seattle that is rather novel. There were other more interesting shops and things to investigate. Filipino bakeries, restaurants with ducks hanging in the window, bodegas and a pretty nice looking library branch. It was a pleasant walk.
