This exhibit looks fantastic. I have long been a keen fan of Richard Avedon and what he did with fashion photography -well everyone attempts to imitate now. But they don't even do it half as well as he ever did. If you are in New York, go see it for me, try not to drool.

I did a bit of gardening this morning. I moved the rosemary plant to the tiny little garden out front. The soil drains better and the sun/conditions are more ideal for the rosemary. I think it will flourish. In the back garden I planted some basil and a bush cuke. My hope for the pickling cucumber plant is that I will end up with enough to do a bit of canning. I need to get another pickling cuke out there pronto. I also transplanted the rosemary as it was running out of space and it seemed more at home with the rest of the herb bed. It is taking off and doing well. I have a couple of beds to finish prepping as I will finally be setting out my tomato starters. The potatoes are coming along, the beets are doing their thing and the onion/garlic bed is thriving. I am also excited that my strawberry plants are flowering. I took my Mother's advice and got rid of some ancient parent plants last fall and it has done wonders for the other strawberry plants. I have other things growing, but I am still watching to see how all of that is going to play out. The only real bother with gardening at times is that it seems to bring on braxton hicks contractions if I try and get too busy or if I stand up too quickly. But then bringing the laundry from the basement does it too. I want to have a stern chat with my body about how I don't have the time to play delicate creature. I am not in some Jane Austen book, I don't nearly die from a slight chill in the rain.

[livejournal.com profile] bbcaddict stopped by today and brought me an entertaining vintage cookbook put out by Ladies Home Journal. Some of the pictures are really interesting and the graphic design is intriguing. Some of the recipes aren't actually all that bad. I may have to investigate. She also brought me some cake. We had some during tea and it was darn delicious. Moist, light and sweet. She showed me some yarn she picked up -there was some stuff that was sort of shimmery and made me think of a mermaid for some reason. It was lovely. I love it when people bring me baked goods. I should put out a sign, "please leave cake here."

I took Senor Onion to the farmer's market today. Gorgeous weather and ideal for sharing an ice cream bar. I sort of kick myself for not getting rhubarb but maybe next week. I think a rhubarb jam thing is coming into my head. Need to look at the books.

Tonight there will be pollo limone with artichoke hearts. Delicious.
