Good things afoot. Talked to a few different people who have used some doulas who do things like child-care during labor/birth. Someone told me about their experience with an on-call nanny service and a few people have said, "if you need help I can watch shortcakes." So there are options.
I went to bed last night with all kinds of anxiety. About that, about a friend who stopped some horrific child abuse happening (btw, she is my new hero and I want to wear shirt with her face on it. Her eating a taco and punching someone.) and accidentally catching some story about some parent doing horrible things to their child. I make it a point to avoid stuff like that for the most part because it makes me physically sick. It also makes me want to grab a large stick and go on some kind of Falling Down-like mission where I break the asses of people who hurt vulnerable folk. Pretty much if you hurt vulnerable people, you do not want to encounter me in a dark alley. I will fuck.your.shit.up. RAWR Pregnant woman with severe aggression on the loose.
Phew.
So yes, some anxiety is lessened.

What else.
Oh so last night I dropped my brother Tom off at the airport. It was raining in a pretty fierce fashion. I am driving home on the freeway when suddenly a squall hits, which is pretty effin' scary when you are driving pretty fast. I had the windshield wipers working nuclear and it was nearly useless. It was making me incredibly nervous. Then I noticed the semi coming up my left side and that wasn't good at all. The rain began to fall even harder, then it began to hail and then? The semi passed me, so my visibility went from about ten feet to zero. It was probably one of the scarier experiences I have had on the road. I started to make noises like a guinea pig. But I kept driving in my lane as best I could. The collective speed on the freeway dropped from about 55-60 to around 30. Everyone went, "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG". I could feel it. So everyone drove pretty slowly through what felt like a hurricane. And no one likes to hydroplane on the freeway with other cars. Once I came around to see the city in view, things kind of calmed a little bit. I really don't like white-knuckling it all the way home. Ah monsoon season, how I enjoy thee. Points to me for not actually peeing my pants.

Senor Onion had success with potty time today. This is significant and exciting. I am easily pleased and proud.

I made a lovely free-form apple tart this morning. It will be for dessert tonight. It smells nice and it will be something different from all the brownies and cake we have eaten as of late.

And hey my potatoes are doing really well in the garden. I planted this one purple/pink variety and the leaves are even kind of purple. Which is interesting and adds a bit more color to the garden. Something seems to be going after my lettuce so I may have to put out a hit of one kind or another.
