Big day. Not really.
Jun. 13th, 2009 04:57 pmIt has been a busily lazy day or something like that.
I made some strawberry jam. (with a few minor hiccups) Then I made a rhubarb custard tart. I go to the farmer's market and things get out of hand. I spend the weekend putting everything to use if I can. Or at least put some things to use for the long term. Somewhere in the midst of that I did several loads of laundry and changed the bed clothes.
Things have been going wild in the garden as of late. (all this sun has been helpful)

Here is the potato bed these days. That small gap in the front is the result of some bastard hobo squirrels who dug up some seedling potatoes just after I had planted them. I hope those squirrels had heartburn or whatever it is that squirrels can get. But despite that, they are coming along nicely. A little mulching and ignoring and they grow tall. Like children. So that is possibly a bad analogy. The tomatoes will need caging soon as they are beginning to get out of hand.
I just ordered dinner (pizza! chicken, artichoke hearts, goat cheese & mushrooms) as I wasted all of my energy on jam, tarts, laundry and small people named Senor Onion.
Right now we have a whole bunch of song birds in the back garden who are apparently hosting some kind of song-fest that almost makes a person nervous. Are they just singing because it is Summer and this is what they do? Or are they planning some kind of hostile invasion and we should be deeply worried.
