I canned raspberry jam and relish this morning. Then I did a little grocery shopping. I never made peach pie but I did make hot fudge. I spent time playing with Senor Onion and he also helped me make things. It wasn't too warm and it was a good Sunday filled with not too much. Sometimes not too much is ideal.
My youngest brother has had a sort of an epiphany or a change of plans as it were. He likes Austin a lot. (hates his roommate, but that is another story) but he has realized that the real world is an interesting and complicated place and he is thinking he would like to go to school. He wants to study music in depth. So his grand new plan is to apply to Evergreen college. He is going to come back here, get a job to make money for school, apply to school/financial aid and so on. It is a very well-defined plan and not, "yeah...maybe take a class." The family is supportive of this, but we are supportive of nearly anything any family member wants to do. (just don't start eating miracle whip or join up with the scientologists and we will root for you.)
I think this is good for him and I suspect it is the sort of thing that he had to arrive at on his own. Which is cool. That is part of growing up and figuring your way around. I have missed him and will be glad to have him back in the state. I told him he could come and hang out with us any old time. (because all family has an open invitation to my house.) I think Olympia/Evergreen would be a good place for his personality. A good music town, a good political town. (his two major interests) I also told him that if he needs help filling out paperwork or needs someone to edit an essay I am there to help. (my sister can testify to this fact)
I think my Mother may come over for a visit this week, which is always awesome. I will have to take her to yarn shops because yo, that is what you do with my Mom. I take her to yarn shops, I make her food and tell her things are going to be all right and we have a good time. Plus there will be presents. I have books to lay on her. And I will make her eat ice cream and she will spend time with her grandson. It will be joy all around.
I am thinking when I go to the wedding on Saturday I will wear my big picture hat. It will help balance out the pregnant belly. I take this advice from Mrs. Carter from my hometown Parish. She mentioned being young, married and fairly pregnant and wearing a big hat. She said it helped.
