these details count somewhere
Jul. 22nd, 2009 10:02 pmMy son pulled some green tomatoes off of the bushes today. I was not amused. In the slightest. But I made them work. I salted them along with some zucchini and summer squash to drain the excess water and then grilled them. They turned out pretty delicious. Still doesn't excuse what the monkey did. I was livid. I can hear my Mother say, "at least he didn't chop down the raspberry bushes like one Tom Gibson." I don't think she has entirely ever forgiven him for that act.
I don't think he will do that again.
So it was a variation on that stupid adage "when life gives you lemons...you shriek at your child and tell him he doesn't get to play outside for the rest of the afternoon goddammit." (rough draft)
It wasn't really all that bad. It was just that time of day when children are trying and Mummy has a back that hurts. Dinner was nice. I made lamb kebabs and roti and a yogurt dill sauce to go with it. And of course the grilled vegetable salad.
The weather was really comfortable this morning and kind of took the edge off.
I swore there was something that I was going to post that was beyond the minute details of my life. But then it wouldn't be LJ would it eh?
Senor Onion was rather tired despite a good nap today. And he is two. So he is allowed to have his off days. So putting him to bed was a bit of a trial where he broke down over some minor detail and it took a bit of work to calm him down. Throwing his stuffed cat and rabbit on the floor and then calling out for them like they were lost at sea. "Meow...Bunnyslippers...Noooooooo". Yes they are named Meow and Bunnyslippers.
hrm.... I shall go lie in bed and enjoy the cool of the evening.
