Well then.
We had a fire tonight in hopes of pleasing the Sun God so it will return once again. Oh the dark really does beat down on one's soul after awhile. You know when the street lights are still on when it is close to eight in the morning and the sun begins setting in earnest around 2:30 in the afternoon. You feel it.
We baked some gingerbread men today and then tonight out of a slight sense of duty or insanity (take your pick) I made some cookie dough that we can bake tomorrow. I am fiddling with the menus a bit. I tested a recipe that while I liked I don't think would work all that well -which in the grand scheme of things is okay. It is one less thing for me to cook. I can keep things to the point and much of the food will be ready so I won't be slaving in the kitchen on Christmas Day.
My brother Tom (the actor) decided to take the greyhound home for Christmas. It isn't because of a lack of funds, he just likes an adventure and he is just foolish enough. I know. I know. But he is an adult and if he wants to go cross country that particular way...well so be it. The last I heard from him (today) he was in Chicago. Which is good. If he can get through the Dakotas and Montana without too much fuss and over the pass in our state well then it will be dandy. He is flying back after Christmas. I hope he has entertaining stories for us.
I think tomorrow will be the last seriousbizness grocery shop before Christmas. Though we do need to hit up the liquor store... Maybe I will make Mr. Jenner do that. There. Mr. Jenner your chore is to bring home some rum and bourbon. And probably brandy too.
Senor Onion wouldn't nap today. I had to entertain him. So we made a teeny stocking for the tree and sewed on a button that is shaped like a present. It entertained him for a little bit. I think we are now down to "finding amusing projects" to keep everyone from losing their marbles. We also read a great many books today.
I just hope hope hope he naps tomorrow. I need it.
