Jan. 28th, 2010 09:02 amSleeping wasn't a terrible successful activity for me last night. Everyone else was knocked out -which was great. My cold/sore throat made it difficult. I started thinking about potatoes for some odd reason and then my mind went to the holocaust for awhile and I wanted to get my mind away from that so I listened to music on my mp3 player. Thank you Marvin Gaye for helping me get some sleep. By the way, I beg of you to really really listen to the song, "Heard it Through the Grape Vine". It really made me think how difficult it is to play the drums really really well. I mean it is kind of a duh thing to say but the song starts off so with some kick-ass drums and slowly builds. I think one forgets that now and then.
Anyhow.
I am making blood orange marmalade -I hope to get all of that canned tonight. (the recipe I am using has the stuff sitting for twelve hours before cooking it. It is a slightly antiquated recipe but I think it will be interesting. I have also set some more bread onto rise. My other project for the weekend is to possibly make gravad lax. I will go to the store today and look at the price of salmon. I am thinking it might be something nice to have on Sunday since my Mom and my brother are coming over. I am thinking I may also make Carbonnade a la Flamande and some pasta to go with it. May need more onions. Though I may have some onions in the garden that might be ready... Anything is possible.
My cold is slowly improving. I think I need more garlic. And maybe some honey. But not together. I should think about getting dressed soon and taking the kids to the library. And the grocery store. I just had a look and I am out of large-mouth lids. And small lids too. Geez how organized am I? I should try and take the kids on a walk today as well. Senor Onion is still kind of sick but he is also manic. I must wear him out so he will nap and not be so emotionally fragile in the afternoon. It really makes tea time exhausting.
