floating casually
Jul. 19th, 2010 10:05 pmI attempted to tackle the laundry today. It had gotten out of hand again. I managed to tidy up the house a bit so it didn't look like a bomb had gone off. I baked smug muffins with my son and then we made a sort of clafoutis (but technically it isn't one as it didn't have cherries if you want to be boring and pedantic about it) with some strawberries from the garden and some very ripe peaches and apricots that were in the kitchen. Delicious. I had my son water the flowers in the front garden while I sat with Miss Biscuit. She tried to eat a pine cone and a dandelion. Everyone needs a little fiber. It isn't like I have him as slave labor -he genuinely likes to water the plants and it is a way to occupy him. We built up a trellis for the beans to climb as they are getting taller. It's a Monday where we try and create a little less chaos.
My brother Mike came over and I helped him with an application and let him do laundry. He helped to entertain the kids while I took care of dinner. I made quiche. Senor Onion helped with the pastry. We had that with some leftover calamari salad and the pesto salad. Eventually children were talked into sleep and my brother went home to his swank little pad. I sent him home with leftover quiche because I worry that people never have enough to eat. If you come to my house, I make you eat or take food with you.
I have the urge to soak in the bath and read more amusing thoughts from the Duchess of Devonshire.
