Sep. 7th, 2010 10:40 pmSometimes my son shows his English side to us. The other night we were having dinner and he noticed a bird hopping about on the lawn and he said, "look at that bird". He then quickly got out our Sibley Bird Guide to see what it was. I knew the bird was a kind of woodpecker but I didn't know its exact name. We had a look and it was a Northern Flicker. Next thing you know he will be spending his days with binoculars and marking off one more for his life list.
I took the kids for a walk/tricycle ride today. We stopped by to say hello to the goat and horse. We came across a woman and her Mother (who was visiting) who were also visiting the animals. The Mother was rather enamored of the kids and thought they were the bees knees. She was petting Senor Onion's hair and saying, "my he has such big eyes and pretty hair." That's my boy. The George Clooney of the toddler set. She thought Miss Biscuit was adorable and hilarious. Kind of funny at times to say thanks when someone compliments your children getting lucky in the DNA lottery.
Mind you after we went on our way, Senor Onion threw a bit of a fit when I objected to him trying to go out into the road without me. He had a tantrum for five blocks. He claimed he couldn't pedal his trike and OMG I was the worst Mother in the history of Mothers because I wouldn't push him. Thank goodness for Miss Biscuit being the calm one. Eventually we made our way home where Senor Onion decided he was going to be civilized once again. Never dull.
My brother came over for a bit and helped to entertain Senor Onion. I thank him. I sent him home with cake for his good work.
So let's end all of this pictures.
