yes life is indeed that glamorous
Nov. 23rd, 2010 11:32 pmThis cold/snow nonsense needs to end now. We got to see it snow. The kids got to play in the stuff (Senor Onion even had his first go at a sled. He said it was a bit scary for him.) and I have taken pictures. Weather Gods you may take it away now. I don't want to be greedy. Someone else should have a turn. No really. I want to save room for dessert or something...
I would like to thank Prince William and his lovely bride to be for picking a date at the end of April. It won't mess with travel when I am traipsing through the UK and attending another wedding. For his kindness I will give him an 8x8 corningware brownie pan. Brownies make for happy marriages. Well of course I am getting an invite -you know who I am of course. Right? Right. I promise not to upstage the bride. After all I don't look that fantastic in white and it should be her day. Though I can't promise not to look better than some of the bridesmaids. It is all about the right hat you know. I was telling the Queen the other day, "Liz, (I call her that) You can get away with a lot if you have good accessories." and she said, "Poppet (she calls me that) ain't that the ever lovin' truth. Want another bourbon?" I agree and said yes to that third bourbon. She and I then watched Downton Abbey and while stroking the ears of her corgis. She and I agreed that Mary needs to get her act together. Kids today.
I have been doing some cooking. Thanksgiving doesn't produce itself. The bird is brining (no I don't have a special recipe. I just get on with things) I made two pie shells, some more cranberry sauce, roasted/mashed some yams for a dish to be made on the big day and I did something else... Oh yeah I made a loaf of bread but that was for the croque madame I made for dinner. Ham & cheese for all. And an egg on top. I took the leftover pastry scraps from the pie shells and made turnovers. I filled them with some home-made jam. They aren't bad. Apricot-rhubarb!
Tomorrow there will be pie-making, a jello salad to be set and some other things. I need to look at my schedule. Of course I have a schedule. I have lists and schedules and so on. No spreadsheets. That is entering into weird territory. Thanksgiving shouldn't be too fetishy. Just enough that you enjoy yourself but not so much that you spend all of your time talking and very little time doing. And yes that jello salad is going to be awesome.
Now off to bed with me.
