I baked a big yellow cake with chocolate fudge icing. Senor Onion was mostly interested in the icing.
But he had fun making the cake. The icing is an exercise in patience, you have to cook it for a long time until it gets to a certain temp. Then you add in ingredients and take it off the heat and wait for it to cool until it drops to a certain temp. and then you hope in vain that you didn't mess it up. Not an icing for those who aren't good with faith.
For dinner we had rotini alle quattro formaggi and a salad. It didn't require much effort and everyone ate it up. Except Miss Biscuit who decided that she would have nothing to do with it and preferred whatever she could scavenge from the carpet. "Oh hey, three day old craising that was somehow missed by the vaccuum -exotic!"
