Oh it was a rare moment tonight. Mr. Jenner and I went out like freaking grown-ups and we went to the movies. Holy cow, we have gone to the movies TWICE this year. This is some kind of record. Or we are beginning to emerge from the cocoon of teeny children. Or something.
We saw Super 8, which I didn't know too much about other than the fact that JJ Abrams wrote and directed it and Spielberg produced it. So you know there would be Daddy issues and weird shit going down. It was a fun movie and made me think of a couple of other films. It was obviously made by people who love movies and have loved movies since they were kids. Like other critics have said, it is a love letter to certain kinds of movies. Grand stuff.

Maybe just maybe we will see a THIRD movie this year. Oh my sweet lord it is possible. Maybe we will see a movie where stuff doesn't explode. A movie where people are repressed and miserable and maybe wear repressive clothing and the interiors are beautiful and no one is good at talking about their feelings and they have funny accents. Or I will just wait until Fall and watch Downton Abbey on the television. But it would be nice to see something less... splodey. Not that I don't enjoy a film where things blow up and there are aliens but I sometimes like variety. I think of the old days pre-children and we would go to the movies several times a month. Maybe one day we will get back there... one day. Still. MOVIES!

As for the rest of the day it was spent wrangling the children. Senor Onion seems to be wound up about life because he is king of intense emotions. In other words he seems hell-bent on screaming up a storm about something or having more break-downs than Frances Farmer over little things. If I could, I would hand him a drink and say, "okay little Oscar Levant, this has got to stop. And there is nothing in the medicine cabinet for you anyways so you may as well get over yourself."
I am sure it is just a phase but this phase is wearing on my nerves. When he isn't moaning at length he is fairly amusing. He builds houses out of anything. Send this child to the slums and he could build a lovely home out of garbage and be happy about it. He also helped me bake a cake today. Talented.

Miss Biscuit continues with her language explosion. She has the phrase, "here you go" down. She loves to hand things to people and tell them, "here you go." Whether you want it or not. She handed a lot of chives (that she picked out of the herb garden) to her Auntie and Uncle. "Here you go Kiki" "thanks"
And when she sulks about something she will cross her arms and look at you as if you have deeply disappointed her and she may have to fire you. Though her other sulking approach is to lay down on the floor and close her eyes. Just like her brother. At least she isn't resorting to threats of becoming nude. Yet.

must resist the urge for more cake.
