The day has been spent doing cooking/prep with the kids. They do lose interest and go on to do other things but they are enjoying doing their bit. Senor Onion has some cranberry relish he made in class yesterday, so he had to find an attractive dish to put the relish in so that it would be ready for tomorrow. Then we baked pies. While I was making the lemon filling for one pie, Miss Biscuit took to playing with the empty lemons. She would put them in one bowl, then another and then put that bowl in the play stove. It kept her entertained for a good hour. Senor Onion has done a lot of stirring and he did a lot of work on the jello salad.

My Mother inlaw emailed me today to tell me about the chaos of yesterday. It seems Mr. Jenner's Grandma (who is visiting my inlaws) had a bad fall and ended up in the hospital. She is conscious and slowly improving. She is still confused about who people are and the state of things. From the way my Mother inlaw described yesterday's scene, it was pretty terrifying. My Inlaws have all the Grandparents visiting right now and they are also watching my brother inlaw's kids. (as my brother inlaw and his wife were in London, though they are back now) The air ambulance had to land in the field & immediately took Betty to the hospital because it was that bad. Today she can walk, eat and talk. Though she did mistake my sister inlaw for me. (which is a little funny since my sister inlaw is a tall willowy blonde and... I am not.)
The doctor said that her brain has shrunk a bit (she is 86, so this is normal) and so there is more room for the brain to bounce in a fall like that. (she hit her head against stone tiles) Now it is just a matter of waiting for her to get better. Oof. What a day for the family. Poor Betty. Her birthday is this weekend. Not exactly how she had planned to spend it. (thankfully her other two sons are coming to see her and everyone is making sure she has plenty of company)
