Tonight's amusement was about how we never named a child after the friend who gave us the kitchenaid mixer as a wedding gift. His is a lovely name. (as he is a lovely person) And I stated that there would be some reget over not having a third child because I would never have the occasion to name a child, Alistair Thor! My Mother thought the name was rather entertaining. I said it was the sort of name that requires an exclamation point whenever it is uttered. For you do not mess with ALISTAIR THOR!
I turned to Mr. Jenner and said, "maybe we can outsource this and adopt a child. One that is potty-trained and sleeps through the night. You couldn't object to that." To which he replied, "don't they usually come with names by that point?" I said, "oh I am sure, but we can change it. Plenty of awful people do that. But I bet we could get a kid on board with being called Alistair Thor!"
Mr. Jenner was not convinced. I don't see why. A child called Alistair Thor is something to be proud of.
My Mother was reminded of the fact that her junior high math teacher had the first name of Thor. He was a typical stoic Norwegian bachelor with a passion for algebra.
Thor!

Magnus Caratacus would have been a good name too.
