I took the car in early this morning as it had been acting funny for awhile. I should point out that I had insomnia so I didn't fall asleep until some horrible hour and was up early and it has sort of set the tone for the day. Anxiety with exhaustion.
I was able to pick up some bread and snack for preschool (brown liquor and candy corn, natch.) and made it home in quick time. That's right. I thought I ruled public transport. Then I took Senor Onion to school. The journey there via bus was fairly quick. (he certainly enjoyed the ride.) But getting home was a great big pile of fuckery. The BUS I was supposed to catch did not show up. (huray for traffic) I caught a later bus. Which in turn meant I missed the connection home. I chatted with my brother for a bit while I waited. We came to the conclusion that the men in the family are manhooooors. And that dogs are adorable. (He was dog-sitting his ex's dog while she was on a business trip. Don't worry, my brother isn't like Walter. He and his ex are friendly and he knows how to care for the dog. Also my brother can roll on shabbos.) I grab A bus that will get me close to home. I get off at the stop that is close enough to get me to home. (I have to walk down the hill about seven blocks) As I cross the street I see the bus that would go right by my house and it speeds by. FINE. FINE. It will take me years to get home. I get that world. It also begins to rain. Whatever world. I go home. I eat toast as a form of therapy. I call the mechanic to get an update. The mechanic was a lovely woman who had to give me bad news.
The transmission. It may need to be replaced. I moaned on the phone, "ohhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooooo" She moaned her sorries back to me. Gave me the number of a transmission place. She said I could pick up the car. I decide to come and pick up the car within the hour. So Miss Biscuit pulled on her boots, hat, and jacket and said, "Let's go! NOW!" All right.

As I was walking along with Miss Biscuit to the bus I was telling her the plan of action. "We're going to go and catch the bus and then go to the mechanic and pick up the car and then we will go and pick up Senor Onion from school. How does that sound?" She looked at me and said in a confident voice, "Let's do this!". So we did.

The weather was much more kind. The mechanic offered more condolences as we need the car for two more months. She said, "if only it was two more days." Indeed.
We are looking at our options, getting estimates and we will have a plan.

Let's hope my body will exhaust itself into a decent night's rest.
