further adventures in state of the things
Jun. 8th, 2012 09:29 pmLet's see... we have renters lined up. We have visas and passports. We've been doing inventory stuff for insurance purposes for the things that will be shipped.
We also have put down the deposit on a car. Yes, after many emails that bordered on a classic English comedy, we decided upon one. I wasn't wildly enthusiastic at first but after some thought and discussion with Mr. Jenner, it was found to be right. (Kudos to Dr. Jenner for finding it.) It's a bit like our current car. (our beloved Honda, Jezebel) It's a mitsubishi, 4 door sedan. (or as they say in the UK a saloon car, which cracks me up. I am an easy audience.) It should fit the kids and their car seats, a week's worth of groceries, and our stuff when we go on holiday. Senor Onion is a little disappointed that it isn't red. I pointed out to him that his new room will have two red walls and a red carpet and that he will have a duvet that is red. RED. I pray to God that he doesn't end up a cardinal when he grows up. (he's likely too ethical to take up a gig like that)
The other thing tiny thing we have sort out is a house. Yes. We had looked (with the help of the internet and my mother and sister in law who went to look at houses in person) at a few (including the one that was originally built in the 12th century with the stone steps and the ghost) and this one seems to also suit our needs. It's in North Cornwall, just under a couple of miles from the great and powerful Atlantic Ocean. It's in a hamlet that consists of a cluster of houses and a Methodist church. It's a mile from the school the children would attend, and three miles to the nearest shops. (including a truly fantastic butcher shop.) I am excited and also pretty damn terrified. But I have managed to live on those two emotions for much of my life. (probably explains my exhaustion)

The house is called, Lucinda. Yes that is right, I am too hip for house numbers. *flips hair in a confident manner only to get some caught in her mouth*

This will be my new stove. (not an Aga but I am not complaining)
